As COVID-19 becomes less of a threat and the federal government's public health emergency ends, states have restarted yearly Medicaid and Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) eligibility reviews. The public health emergency expanded Medicaid coverage eligibility – now that expansion may be going away.
If you or your family are covered by Medicaid or CHIP, this means the Louisiana Department of Health and Mississippi Division of Medicaid will use the information they have to decide if you or your family member(s) still qualify for Medicaid or CHIP coverage. Be sure that your information is up to date today. If they need more information from you to make a coverage decision, they’ll send you a renewal letter in the mail. Most children can still be covered through CHIP.
If you no longer qualify for Medicaid or CHIP, you may be able to buy a health plan through the Health Insurance Marketplace. Plans cover things like prescription drugs, doctor visits, hospital visits and more. Explore Marketplace plans by visiting HealthCare.gov.
