Learning how to overcome social anxiety and follow instruction is often a critical step for success in the classroom and other everyday settings. Our social worker oversees our Social Skills small groups to help kids become more comfortable with necessary tasks like turn taking, identifying feelings, problems solving, and other things necessary for a fulfilling, independent life.
The Capable Play program is a six-week family program that helps families with the most medically involved members learn how to make simple adaptations to everyday household items. These adaptations make it possible for the whole family to participate in activities from game night to chores to picking clothes for the day. The goal is independence and inclusion. At the end of the program, families take home equipment to make the adaptations a part of their daily lives.
