Making History with Louisiana’s First Non-invasive Pediatric Spinal Surgery
In February 2022, 14-year-old Emily made history as the first patient in Louisiana to receive a new spinal surgery treating adolescent idiopathic scoliosis. Called the ApiFix procedure, it was performed by a team that included orthopedic surgeons from Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Health and Our Lady of Lourdes Women’s & Children’s Hospital.

Suffering from osteoarthritis, Patrick Dubois sought the help of orthopedic surgeons at Our Lady of Lourdes Health. After a robotic knee replacement surgery, he was back on his feet the same day and exercising regularly at the gym by the end of the month.
