Our rehabilitation programs are designed to meet the needs of patients whose ability to function has been impaired through normal aging, illness, injury or disability. Through a range of inpatient and outpatient rehab programs, we help patients regain mobility, restore function, reduce pain and adjust emotionally after such life-altering situations so they can return to the highest level of independence possible.

Our Rehabilitation Centers

An overview of the rehabilitation services in each region we serve.

  • The Rehabilitation Center at Our Lady of the Lake

    Our fully accredited, 33-bed comprehensive inpatient rehabilitation unit is designed for adults with physical, cognitive and communicative limits. Our goal is to help patients regain mobility, restore function, reduce pain and adjust emotionally after life-altering illness or injury.

    With unique and advanced technology like the Optimal G ambulator, our inpatient care can treat spinal cord and similar injuries.

    Our Lady of the Lake's Outpatient Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation services are provided as a joint venture with Baton Rouge Physical Therapy.

    This partnership allows us to offer more Board-Certified specialists than any other rehabilitation therapy practice in Louisiana. Outpatient rehabilitation services include physical therapy, occupational therapy, sports medicine therapy and more.

  • Our Lady of Lourdes Outpatient Rehabilitation Services

    Our Lady of Lourdes Outpatient Rehabilitation Services +

    We offer the most comprehensive therapy program in Acadiana including physical, occupational and speech therapies focusing on orthopedic and neurological care for all ages. In addition, our licensed and highly trained therapists offer specialized programs in the areas of pelvic floor, lymphedema management, driver rehabilitation and hand therapy, helping patients resume an active lifestyle enjoying the things they love the most.

    St. Landry Campus

    • Driver Rehab Program: Home to the region’s only certified driver rehab specialist, we provide clinical and in-vehicle assessment for seniors, those recovering from an injury, and patients with a diagnosis that may limit their ability to operate a vehicle safely. Vehicle modification recommendations also provided.
    • Hand Therapy: Our certified hand therapist offers splinting, post-surgery care, scar management and arthritis care.
    • Lymphedema Therapy: Often, patients are told there is nothing to be done for lymphedema. At Our Lady of Lourdes Health, trained members of our lymphedema treatment team will perform Complete Decongestive Therapy to help improve the condition.
    • Neurology: Experienced and highly trained therapists provide programs from those who suffered a stroke, spinal cord injury or brain injury, Parkinson’s disease, balance issues, cognitive therapy and wheelchair assessments.
    • Orthopedics & Sports Medicine: Our team offers McKenzie spinal evaluation and treatment, total joint replacement therapy, manual therapy, dry needling and relief from back, neck and joint pain.
    • Voice Program: Our program helps patients regain use of their voice and assists with other voice-related complications.

    Women's & Children's Campus

    • Pediatric Therapy: From developmental delays to orthopedic and sports injuries affected the region’s youth athletes and handwriting assistance to feeding therapy, our experienced therapists are ready to help your child discover new levels of ability and independence.
    • Pelvic Floor Therapy: Our certified therapist assists area women with pelvic floor and rectal pain, chronic constipation, urinary or fecal incontinence and pelvic floor issues arising during and after pregnancy.
  • St. Dominic's Rehabilitation Services

    St. Dominic’s services are designed to help patients return to an optimal level of function and meet the daily challenges of their environment.

    Inpatient rehabilitation includes physical therapy and occupational therapy.

    Our Outpatient Rehabilitation and Hand Management Center aims to return individuals to an optimal level of function in order to meet the daily challenges of their environment. Our team includes certified therapy specialists in aquatics, orthopedic, hand management, lymphedema, neurologic, oncologic, return-to-work and pelvic health to assure the most comprehensive, state-of-the-art treatment in the Jackson region, rendered by a caring and competent team.

  • St. Francis Health Adult Inpatient and Outpatient Acute Rehabilitation

    Our Rehabilitation programs are offered at the Community Health Center and are designed to meet the needs of the person whose ability to function has been impaired through normal aging, illness, injury or disability.

    Physical, Occupational and Speech therapy programs are available and include activities such as mobility adaptations, hand rehabilitation, gross motor treatment, postural and gait assessment and treatment, and many other specialties.

The Rehabilitation Care Team

Learn a little more about the team members involved in inpatient rehabilitation.

  • Nursing

    Manages medical treatment, medication, education, skin care, wound care and manages discharge planning needs.

  • Rehab Physicians

    Leads the rehab team. Performs daily medical rounds, medication management and manages the comprehensive medical/rehab plan for each patient.

  • Case Management

    Serves as patient advocate, collaborates with rehab team and communicates clinical updates with the payors. The case management team also monitors patient progress, communicates with the patient/family on rehab plan and coordinates discharge planning.

  • Occupational Therapy

    Promotes independence through the routine of daily activities, including feeding, grooming, bathing and dressing.

  • Physical Therapy

    Assists with transfers into bed, chair, wheelchair, shower, toilet and vehicle. Also assists with mobility including walking, using a wheelchair and climbing stairs.

  • Speech Therapy

    Assists the patient to understand information and how to communicate wants and needs. In addition, social cognition is addressed with problem solving and memory. Swallowing disorders are also evaluated and treated.

  • Support Staff

    Reinforces newly learned skills acquired from treatment sessions. Engages patients with activities that promote social and emotional well-being.

The Patient

Patients are encouraged to participate to the best of their ability every day. Practice is the best way to learn tasks, and you will have to work hard to reach your goals. Our rehab team will provide support and assist you in maximizing your full potential.

The Family or Caregiver

Family members and caregivers motivate and provide support to the patient, especially when tasks are difficult. In addition, family/caregivers will receive training in home care.
